I got some work done on my game last weekend, inserted game-over screen, story screen (comics inbeteween levels) and some art done too. I was planning on having an entire flow through level 1 finished by the end of january, it seems I may just miss that deadline but I am close enough to be satisfied about my progress.

Here's a drawing I did just for practice:

Some game graphics preview

by Niels Brouwers 21. January 2011 05:31

I have been very busy doing graphics for my XBOX 360 game. Here's an image I have done a while ago. It was originally a concept sketch that I turned into a 3d render later on which became the base of my main character in the game.

I actually found a nice way to use this image in the game itself, it will be the indicator for the number of lives. In the game, though, it will look like this:

So, I make a high resolution image for my game and I turn out using an 8bit like sprite of that image! Still, it was fun to draw, and I might find some more places to use it!

Icecarving a dragon

by Niels Brouwers 16. December 2010 18:44

For the Annual Dutch Ice Carving Championship (NK Icecarving 2010 Arnhem) my wife and I carved a little dragon out of ice. We didn't spend much time taking pictures (so busy stacking ice and sawing)  so at the moment this is all I could gather. The first picture is work in progress, we still had some time left at this point:

Here's me carving the dragon's head (left) and on the other picture you see my wife preparing the neck. If you ever wondered how to slay an ice-dragon, try this: start chainsaw, chop head! My wife's a great dragon-slayer!

Work in progress 1....

Just a small teaser screenshot of what I'm upto:

It's a platformgame for the XBOX Live Indie Games channel! I've got the character moving, shooting, running, rayblasting(!) etc. so that part is covered. There is also a couple of enemy monsters up and running about. Collission detection still needs some work and ofcourse a lot of artwork still needs to be created. It will be finished when it is finished :-)
